2006 Anniversary Gold Proof Eagles

In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the American Gold Eagle Program, the United States Mint released a beautiful 3-coin set featuring the very first reverse proof version of the American Gold Eagle. All of the coins in the set depict a rendition of the cherished Liberty design that was originally prepared by nearly one-hundred years ago by the master sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. All of the coins also display the 2006 release date and carry the “W” mint mark, giving indication that they were struck at the West Point mint.

Struck with specially prepared dies that were designed with state-of-the-art laser technology, the Reverse Proof Gold Eagles were adorned with mirrored devices and frosted fields, which is the reverse appearance of the standard proof gold eagle. Also included in the sets were the 1-oz versions of the Uncirculated Gold Eagle Coin and the American Gold Eagle Proof Coin.

They are generally presented in a highly polished hardwood box accented with gold foil on it's domed lid and most often, each comes accompanied with a specially prepared Certificate of Authenticity.

Due to the fact that only 10,000 of these stunning Proof Sets were produced, investor and collector interest has remained high ever since their initial release.
