If your collecting for investment you would want to stick with American Eagles or Canadien Maple Leafs coins. The year is not that important. Check this site for info
http://www.mintedsilver.com
American Silver Eagles, which have a face value of US$1.00;
Canadian Maple Leafs, which have a face value of C$5.00;
Austrian Philharmonics, which have a face value of €1.50.
whether these face values will matter in the distant future is anyone’s guess, particularly when silver trades for the same market price anywhere, but you never know. i personally prefer the Canadians, because the face value is the highest for any 1-ounce silver bullion coin.
you will likely get your bullion coins in pristine condition, but otherwise, dates and conditions don’t matter.
